Favorite Movies

Oscar season brings out the annual comparison of favorite movie lists and I figure we may as well play the game together. I’ve become so compulsive on this subject that when asked about my top ten I can quickly produce a list of a couple of hundred films and about fifty television series. The secret is that I’ve built a home server system to hold files from my DVD collection so I don’t have to search through boxes of discs to find a favorite when I’m in the mood.

So click the more button to see my list. This game only works if you play along.

Comment away. I’ve shown you mine. Let us all see yours! And follow this blog!

  • …Oscar worthy? .. perhaps for the Vietnam generation ?… The Quiet American Deer Hunter Apocalypse Now

…or The English Patient Out of Africa Cabaret

Just off the top of my head … and perhaps somewhere in my heart.

  • Cannot argue with Casablanca, but Field of Dreams #2? I guess I’d better see The Adjustment Bureau. I’d have Groundhog Day way higher. No To Catch A Thief?

    • Field of Dreams is for my father. And all the time we spent together at Comiskey Park. Let me know how you like Adjustment Bureau.

    • Saw Adjustment Bureau last night with Teri and Harry. We all liked it. Plot: boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back. But still charming enough. Doesn’t quite make it to the top of my list. You can see why the leads fell for each other though. Thanks for the rec.

      • Awww. How about at least, “Boy overcomes otherworldly odds to get girl back.” On the other subject, no argument. If I were going to risk everything and tempt the fates themselves for a girl, Emily Blunt’s “Elise” would be the girl I’d do it for!
